Residential Waste Collection

Garbage may be set out in city-issued black carts no earlier than 12 noon the day before collection day, and emptied containers must be removed by noon the day after collection. Failure to follow set out guidelines may result in fines ranging from $100 to as much as $500 for excessive set-outs.
The City of Cleveland Curbside Recycling Program will start the week of June 13, 2022. It will be weekly, but you must opt-in. To participate in the program residents must opt-in; enroll online at clerecycles.com or call 216-664-3030.
Yard waste can be set out weekly.
- All leaves and clippings must be contained, up to 20 bags per week.
- Branches must be cut and tied in bundles no more than 3′ long x 2′ in diameter.
Bulk items + tire disposal Up to three bulk items such as appliances, furniture, mattresses etc., plus up to 4 tires, may be set out next to your approved containers on the Monday of the first full week of the month. If the first Monday is a holiday, waste and bulk item collection will be delayed by one day.
The Division of Waste Collection offers the following services to residents year round, for your convenience:
Computer/cell phone drop off, 5600 Carnegie Avenue, 9 am-3 pm weekdays.
Document shredding while you wait, 5600 Carnegie Avenue, 9 am-3 pm weekdays.
Household hazardous waste drop off, First Friday of the month, 9 am-3 pm at either 5600 Carnegie or 3727 Ridge Road.
Residential Dumping Dispose up to 4 cubic yards of garage, yard and household debris or appliances at no cost 4 times annually. Proof of residency is required in the form of photo ID and current vehicle registration. Monday-Saturday, 9 am to 3 pm – 3727 Ridge Road.
