Trash day in Collinwood is Monday. Here are some guidelines from the City of Cleveland related to trash.

Setting out containers

Garbage may be set out in approved containers no earlier than 12 noon the day before collection day, and emptied containers must be removed by noon the day after collection. Recyclables should be placed unbagged into blue roll carts. Violations are $100 fine.

Yard waste

The city collects yard waste with regular waste. Branches and brush must be cut into lengths of three feet or less and tied into bundles that do not exceed 24 inches in diameter. All leaves and grass clippings must be contained in bags and there is a limit of no more than 20 bags per week.

Bulk items/Tire disposal

Up to three bulk items such as appliances, furniture, mattresses etc., plus up to 4 tires, may be set out next to your approved containers on the first regular collection day of each month. For additional pickups, call 216-664-3711.

Residents may also drop off bulk items at the Ridge Road Transfer Station located at 3727 Ridge Road, Cleveland up to four times a year.

Accumulation of garbage, refuse and waste

Property owners must maintain their property free from any accumulation of garbage, rubbish, refuse or other waste not confined in approved containers or so as to prevent rodent infestation. The maximum fine is $100. Dumping or disposal of solid or industrial waste on any public or private property that is not licensed as a solid waste disposal facility is a violation of health code. Both the person who dumps and their employer, or the owner of the vehicle used to dump, is subject to fines up to $1,000 and imprisonment up to 6 months. Each day of continuing violation or non-compliance is a separate violation. Report dumping weekdays, 8 am-5 pm by calling the city hotline, 216-664-DUMP.

Nuisance Plants, Refuse and Surface Water

The following harbor pests and cause health problems and are declared nuisances by city code:
